President Behbud Association of Pakistan
ABIDA MALIK
An integral part of Behbud’s team of devoted volunteers for over 27 years, the President of Behbud Association, Abida Malik has been instrumental in driving the non-profit towards self-sustainability.
Having trained thousands of artisans in fusion fashion, Abida also stands as the country’s first ethical fashion designer.
In the years that followed after Abida officially joined Behbud in 1994; she has not only given the non-profit a sense of structure, but also implemented iron-clad policies to create a self-sustainable transparent system.
Leading the non-profit towards its next chapter, and chalking out targets for 2050, her goal is to initiate Behbud’s Mother and Child Hospital at the headquarters in Rawalpindi.
“To maintain a fusion of the old and the new is something we always strive for,” explains Abida Malik, Behbud’s President.
Leading the design at the Industrial Home for decades Abida Malik has trained thousands of women artisans. She mentions that books shared by volunteers and clothes passed down by mothers and grandmothers have inspired many of Behbud’s collections.
